Karl Lagerfeld + HPP Architects
Pop up! The ‘Schwarzkopf Light Box” created by a collaboration with the concept sketch by Lagerfeld and architectural planning by HPP. Located in Düsseldorf, Germany on the lawn of Graf-Adolf-Platz, the 300 square meter “pop up box” has two floors with a cafe on the lower level and a hair salon on the second level. The pop up store was built in 4 weeks with reusable and recyclable materials. The exterior consists of 60 black and white silhouettes of models which were from Lagerfeld’s music lover exhibition, which also doubles for advertising for Schwarzkopf’s salon. The Light Box has illuminated benches placed along the pathways of the surrounding park and intersects the open air and covered ground level, which leads into the cafe. The store was being built in occasion of the European song contest and the pop up store was awarded with the iF communication design award 2012.
