With intricate detail and unique use of materials and images a pair of shoes, basic shift dress, or piece of jewelry can become an artifact that should be put on display, and what better place than the mobile human body to display ones work.  Here are some of the most eye-catching pieces of wearable…

Tomás Saraceno

Groundbreaking artist, Tomás Saraceno, looks to construct different works of art that seem to go beyond human and Earthly possibilities. As an architecturally trained artist, he uses foundational theories from physics, chemistry, engineering and aeronautics to make his imaginative designs come to life. Cosmology and life sciences inspired Saraceno to create On Space Time Foam, a 78-foot-tall cloud project that he created for HangarBicocca in Milan, Italy. It features multiple layers of membranes that each adjust their climate and air pressure based on the activity that occurs within them. His project, Cloud City, was installed on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Click here to see more of Tomás Saraceno’s work.

Tony Plant

Works of art are known to last years, surpassing decades and even centuries. They are often hung in museums and in homes as a timeless piece that can be appreciated everyday. However, artist Tony Plant, brings a new sort of lasting impression. His work is not able to adorn the walls of a museum or to be placed on the fireplace mantle. Instead, he has created temporary images that have been formed in areas above and below tidal zones of the most exposed coastal locations. For over 20 years, Tony has used natural canvases such as sand, snow, water and rocks to display his talent — allowing them to be washed away at any moment. The power of his designs lie in the mental impression…

Through his variety of artworks and exhibits he tries to portray that art can be found in what we view as the ordinary and everyday, and that it even exists within us and in our senses. These ideas are most prominent in his works RE-DESIGN and HAPTIC. He enjoys discovering questions that need answering, and in that finds much of his design inspiration. He also opened the Hara Design…
