As a previous carpenter apprentice, German artist Gerhard Mayer found himself with new desire. Wanting to seek further in the pleasures of forms and interesting material, he soon established himself in the art world. Having won multiple coveted awards for his incredible work, he continues to attract new audiences. Often challenging and exploring notions of gravity, he uses individual parts that function as building-blocks in order to construct his signature large scale art pieces. From massive wall drawings that are made by various tiny marks, to his realistic landscape collages constructed through single puzzle pieces, and even his wood sculptures that overlap an entire space of the gallery with the individual logs; all are single-handedly interlocked to create an appealing tension with the viewer. With his interesting, playful combinations of irony, he most certainly has us intrigued. For more information about Gerhard Mayer’s art pieces, click here.
