Gayle Spannaus

By Caitlyn Hansen on Monday, October 15, 2012 · Leave a Comment

Starting her career off as a fashion stylist assistant, Spannaus soon heard of a job opening at J.Crew for casting models and hiring photographers. To  get her foot in the door, she took the job and saw it as a great opportunity. She soon found herself in the clothing part of the business and later ended up becoming fashion director and women’s stylist for J.Crew. Spannaus, barley five feet tall, loves to play with prints and feels she can be more creative with her look. The signature style of J.Crew would be the “tomboy sexy” and Gayle says that she never pairs “Pretty with pretty or boy with boy”. Everything with J.Crew is juxtaposed and when styling an outfit she always thinks of the two opposites and how they can work together to create the J.Crew signature look. Gayle’s go too make up look is a pop of color on the lips, such as a hot pink or bright orange lipstick. The number one tip she tells people is to “Know a good tailor” and “Whatever your asset is, start to tailor your clothes to highlight that asset.” Gayle’s most anticipated look this season is Ankle Grazing Pants, saying that the “ankle bone is underrated.” To get to know Gayle even more, click here.
