DADA Architecture + Planning
The 7th International Strawberry Symposium Exhibition Center + Hotel was designed by renowned architecture firm DADA. This sprawling 50,000 square meter structure is located in the Changping District of Beijing, China—an area recognized for its strawberry cultivation and production. With a budget of over $47 million for its creation, the most innovative, technologically advanced, and environmentally conscious center was built. Housing a training center, factory, and convention center, this multifunctional space encourages strawberry-linked professionals to come together and present findings, exchange ideas, and form collaborations. In honor of the fruit, the façade resembles the seed-y exterior of the strawberry. Naturally, the designers of DADA focused on executing high sustainability efforts: rainwater collection system, long-lifespan materials, geothermal heating and cooling, natural lighting.
