Cloud House

Cloud House

The Australian firm McBride Charles Ryan has turned the phrase “living on a cloud” into a reality. The organic design that captures the shape of a cloud is featured as a continuing structure to a traditional Edwardian styled home. With its modern aesthetics exposed within the interior, the architectural structure is made up of interlocking geometric designs that bring the outdoors within and vice versa. Upon entry, one is mesmerized by the natural light and connecting poolside view. Though the development was build separately from the original home, there is nothing off-putting or separate from the comfort feeling of being at ease within your own living environment. With wood panels following along the interior, from floor to ceiling, the space can easily be altered of its function for social activities. One can get lost, daydreaming within this structure, fantasizing about the poetic nature of its environmental surrounding, lifting one’s spirit in the life of simplicity while living in a cloud.

They believe that the excitement and beauty of architecture comes from finding balance between opposites and creating an engaging space. What attracted you to the field of architecture? My parents built a custom home when I was 7, being on site during construction I fell in love with the process. Have you…
