Biegert & Funk

QLOCKTWO® Wall Clock

Biegert & Funk is a German design studio founded by Marco Biegert and Andreas Funk. The duo has mastered developing innovative and creative designs for products, campaigns, and applications. The concept of the “Qlocktwo” design came about when the pair were only teenagers and brought up the idea of reading time off a clock in words instead of numbers. In perfecting the idea, the design replaces the number displays with a 110 letter grid and with a press of a button, the watch highlights text reading words such as “it is half past three” or “it is a quarter to twelve”. Available in seven colors, the front panel is made of brushed stainless steel or polished synthetic glass . In putting the “Qlocktwo” into production, Biegert & Funk were fulfilling a dream and reaching success that they themselves had not anticipated. Since the release of the idea, the “Qlocktwo” has been made in various forms including a wall or standing clock, a table alarm clock, and most recently, a W wristwatch. The unique display is also offered as an application for the Android, iPhone and iPad and can be read in different languages including English, German, French, Danish, Spanish, Dutch, Russian, Swedish, Arabic, Swiss German and Italian. Biegert & Funk have gained acknowledgement for their creativity, receiving the Interior Innovation Award two years in a row, the iF product design award for 2010 and 2o12, the Red Dot Design Award and many more.

JR

JR is an artist whose work is hard to classify, however he calls himself a “Pervasive Artist”, and touches on topics such a poverty, politics, and culture. He pastes large scale, full frame portraits of every day citizens from countries all over the world on buildings, bridges, walls, and a variety of different structures. He wants to create interaction between the subject of the photograph and the many people coming in contact with, and viewing said photograph. JR’s work is all about raising questions, causing discussions, and making people think more about what they see when they come across his projects. What inspired JR to organize and put together such larger-than-life photography projects? JR’s pasting streek all started with his project Portrait of a Generation….
